The WonderDome is an ethereal experience in light, music and
fur. Physically, it's a 20" geodesic structure whose sides are tensile
fabric structures that glow, flash and pulse between colors. It's lined
with white fur and filled with hundreds of colorful stuffed animals,
each of which has a unique history of caring and affection. The
experience is supernaturally trancetastic and cuddlesome.
This year, we're getting a computer system to drive the lights, so they will fade and blink in choreographed sequences.
There are a lot of ways for folks in the community to get involved:
Of course, you can visit the dome and share your soft, warm cuddle energy with the rest of the puppy pile.
You could take a picture or a video. We'd love to share the Dome online, but we don't have any good images.
You can join Peace+Love Incorporated, the team that puts together
the dome. We need some reliable people to help assemble, dissemble, and
play host in the Dome at Alchemy and other events.
You can
help program the new lighting effects. The software is really easy to
learn, and it'll be fun to relax in the dome knowing that you helped
design the lighting. You could even choreograph a light show for your
favorite song, and we'll cue it up for you at Alchemy.
You can support the project by adopting one of the Fuzzies. For as
little as $5, you can sponsor a cuddly Dome critter, give him/her a
name, and write a description. All adoptions will be logged on the
WonderDome website, and you'll be able to find your adopted buddy
whenever you visit the Dome.
We spend a tidy sum on the project, and every bit helps. This year
we're hoping to raise $400 to pay for the control unit of the new
system.
And, as always, you can donate any old stuffed animals that want to join the WonderDome Fuzzies.
