The Alchemist. Volume 2, Issue 4.

Alchemy 2008 is almost here! This weekend the infrastructure build starts on the site! In a week, just 7 days we will all be home and enjoying the art, music, fire, food and company that only a family like ours can provide!

Ticket sales will end on Wednesday, October 1st so if you haven't gotten yours DO IT NOW!

Oh, have we mentioned there will be a bar in the base of the effigy- yeah, really. Come hang out on top of the hill and bring some of your favorite adult beverage to share. This is a community bar, so all donations are gladly accepted and encouraged.

Theme Camp Fun Stuff

Oh, Theme Camps at Alchemy are the BOMB!!! You can see the whole list of more than 30 registered camps here. We put a call out to see if any of them had special events or other stuff they wanted you let you fabulous participants know and here are some of the highlights....

Kamp Krieg will be DJing the finest in goth/industrial and metal music at all hours, i.e. whenever we feel like dancing. Fire dancers are always welcome to come practice or show off their skills. We will also be hosting a couple meetings of the Transformus Temple Burn Support Group for anyone who wants to come talk about what happened with people who were there. Those meetings will likely be on Friday and Saturday afternoon. We should have a big sign up about it at our camp.

The Sidewalk's End is a place for children of all ages! We will have LOTS of bubbles, some art to create and an apocalyptic art show, a sidewalk to make chalk art on (or for a hopscotch showdown), a small kid's playground, a ball pit, tea parties, the Mad Hatter and March Hare hosts: kickball croquet, kids dress up fun, and the Worlds End Theatre; which will turn into a goth club at night. We will also be having post punk and psychedelic mornings (kids play, parents chill and hang out over some camp coffee while listening to some post punk and psychedelic) This and lots more fun fun suprises, at the Sidewalk's End... beware the talking trees!!

K.I.S.S. Camp will be doing an EL Wire workshop on Friday afternoon. Stop by to make your very own super efficient re-usable blinky.

Earthskills Rendezvous Camp will be practicing and teaching wilderness and earth-living skills, including friction fire, Wilderness awareness, and homesteading;  As well as preparing for a full week of classes on site after Alchemy is over.  Come visit during alchemy and stay for the rest of the week if you can!

At the AtlantaPsy Camp we will be having "Psylimpics" - an assortment of fun & wacky games to play throughout the Burn. Games to challenge the challenged. Test your physical & mental endurance while laughing uncontrollably.  It's going to be a blast. In addition to the games, we will have UV Ping-Pong on a custom made fluoro pong table. And last, but certainly not least, a full lineup of Atlanta's best Psytrance djs (and some awesome guests) throwin' down at the decks for your audio enjoyment. We will be hosting a richly decorated fluoro atmosphere & will also be offering simple snacks and healthy munchies at varying points throughout the weekend.

Holy Moly Mountain invites you to the creation of a group Ayni Gratitude Offering, inspired by the "Despacho" Ceremonies of the Qero Nation (in the High Andes Mountains).  Ayni means Sacred Reciprocity.  Together we will create a mandala of natural elements, on a large piece of white paper, that represents our Gratitude and Thanksgiving for Each Other, and for Pachamama (Mother Earth).  Bound with our good intent, the bundle is used to Bless and Cleanse each and is then planted in the Burning Temple Fire.   SUN-day at Holy Moly Mountain, at the sound of the Conch (~4pm linear time, more information there or ask Aumdoc).

B.H.O.P will be serving up yummy pancakes every morning to anyone who can tolerate the snark-fest of the cooks. We will put whatever you want in your pancakes (including leggos) but you have to eat them. Eat Your Friggin Pancakes Hippie!

Know These 7 Things....

1. DON’T SHOW UP WITHOUT YOUR TICKET No entry is permitted without a ticket. Will-Call ticket holders– don’t for get your code. If you show up without either of these two things you will be made to go home, hippie, you know, that place where your couch is.
2. WE  AFFIRM THE 10 PRINCIPALS OF BURNING MAN -  Radical Inclusion, Gifting, Decommodification, Radical Self-reliance, Radical Self– expression, Communal Effort,  Civic Responsibility,  Leave No Trace, Participation and Immediacy.
3. THE 3 NO’S:  NO GUNS. NO PETS. NO BAD ATTITUDE. There are not a lot of absolute ‘you can’t do that’ but these three are non-negotiable. You  can have a bad attitude, but be prepared to be convinced otherwise. The other 2– don’t do it !
4. LEAVE NO TRACE. If you bring it in, you pack it out. Period. Don’t let it hit the ground.
5. ALCHEMY SUPPORTS ALL LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS. This means you must comport yourself with regard to these laws as you would in any municipality.
6. ANY VEHICLE ON SITE MUST BE AN ART CAR. You can drive on site, you can unpack you stuff and then it is either decorated or it needs to be parked in the lot.
7. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU. We are a community, we participate, we make this burn what it is, but in the end you are responsible for your own needs and desires for the whole event.  If you need or want something, ask for it. Know your boundaries and limits.
