When/Where of the Event

The 2nd Annual Alchemy Art Fundraiser will happen on June 27, 2009 at Blue
Tower Gallery (675 Metropolitan Parkway, #1113, Atlanta, GA. 30310,
www.bluetowergallery.com). Doors open at 6pm, and the event will end at
1am. The cost of admission is $10, and children under 10 are free!

Bring your own cup, or buy a fun Alchemy cup from us at the event (proceeds
go to the artists!). Some snacks and drinks will be provided; however, this
year please also bring some kind of snack to share with everyone!

---------------------------------------------------------
How It All Works

The Fundraiser accomplishes two key things: First, we alchemically convert
a small sum of money that would have been tiny art grants for Alchemy
artists into much larger sum through the magic of party. Second, YOU get to
decide who gets funded. For those who are following along at home, that
means you are much more immediately involved with Alchemy and the artists
there.

Here is how it works. You come to the Fundraiser and pay your $10 to get in
the door (except the kiddos!). You get a paper ballot, where you can then
allocate each of those $10 (in whole dollar amounts please!) to the artist
or artists of your choice. You walk around, look at the rockin' displays of
the artists who want your cash, while listening to awesome burner music and
sipping your drink. Talk to the artists, figure out who you want to
support. Go ahead, ask them questions! They may even invite you to get
involved with their project, if you are interested. Then, once you've
decided who should get your money, make notes on your ballot, and then take
the ballot back to the people at the door. We'll have charts there on the
walls, which will show you how close each artist is to their requested fund
amounts. The charts will update real-time, as each ballot is handed in.
Then, enjoy the party! There will be all kinds of entertaining stuff going
on.

Please submit all ballots prior to 11pm! Don't worry, we'll remind you!

Remember, every single dollar that is made at the Art Fundraiser goes
directly to Alchemy artists who want to bring projects to Alchemy 2009. We
will do our absolute best to cut off door entries at the point that all
artists get their requested fund amounts. If, however, people still want to
get in, any additional money will go toward paying for the Fundraiser, so
that we can spend the money we had allocated for the Fundraiser on other
Alchemy infrastructure needs.

Information for Artists Seeking Funds!

Need money to make your dream project happen at Alchemy 2009? Submit your
idea to art@alchemyfestival.com, or by some alternative means (meet with
someone in person, or arrange to get drawings to an art team member) by
June 14, 2009 at 3pm! We will need your first and last name, phone number
and a valid, working email address that you actually check regularly. If
you choose to go by a burner name, please also include that name. Please
let us know what things we can publicize. We hope to have all Alchemy
artists on our website this year, so people can see how you're doing with
your project all year!

Additionally, please include the following info:

1. A detailed description of the project. How will your project incorporate
the Alchemy community through its planning, creation, realization, and
removal? How will the piece/creativity be installed/performed and removed
from the land, Leaving No Trace? Will the piece incorporate Flame Effects?
If so, how will those Flame Effects be handled safely in the Alchemy
environment?
2. A thorough itemized budget. What materials will you be using and how
much do they cost? How will you transport those materials to and from
Alchemy? Will extra safety equipment and personnel be required?
3. A timeline detailing the planning, creation, installment, and removal of
your project. Optional but suggested: detailed drawings, CAD files,
sketches, or other graphic illustrations of your creative concept.

Please note that no artists who are seeking funds from the Fundraiser will
be accepted past the June 14 deadline!

Please plan to attend the Fundraiser and display something that illustrates
what you are planning to do for Alchemy 2009. In the spirit of Immediacy,
it is important that people be able to talk with you about your project.
Plan to bring something to show. We will have all kinds of wall space, and
we can even help you set up your displays. If you are doing a project as a
part of a group, it is not absolutely necessary that all members of your
group be present; however it would be fun if they were!

Plan to retrieve your project display by no later than noon on Sunday, June
28th. You can take your display down at any time during the Fundraiser, but
please note that when you take down your display, we will shut down funding
for your project. To get the most out of the Fundraiser, plan to take down
your display at 11pm at the earliest!

The Big Reveal

The unveiling of the art submission chosen for this year's Alchemy ticket
design will happen some time during the Fundraiser. Look for it in the very
first gallery room you'll enter! You won't want to miss it, it's
incredible!

---------------------------------------------------------
Display Your Art!

Not seeking funds for an Alchemy art project this year, but you still have
fantastic art you'd like to display? Bring it! We will have an entire
gallery room set up just for showing off all our Alchemy artists! If you
are interesting in showing your art at the Fundraiser, please contact
art@alchemyfestival.com, and let them know generally what you're bringing.
Plan to come by to set up your art at 3pm on June 27th. We can help you
with displays, if you need help.

---------------------------------------------------------
Fire...

If you are going to bring fire toys or fire art to the Fundraiser, please
contact firesafety@alchemyfestival.com and let them know your plans. We
welcome all fire performances and fire art – just please give us a heads up
since we'll be in town.
